‘50 pc target of setting up IT centres in J-K achieved’

J-K govt said 550 Common Service Centres have been set up by the Information Technology department across the state during the current financial year.

Jammu and Kashmir government today said 550 Common Service Centres (CSC) have been set up by the Information Technology department across the state during the current financial year,achieving over 50 per cent of the target.

“IT department has so far set up 550 CSC,out of the proposed target of 1,104,to provide services to the people in every nook and corner of the state,” Minister for Information Technology Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said.

Addressing a conference on ‘e-governance scenario in Jammu and Kashmir’ here yesterday,the minister said these CSCs would be connected with internet and other facilities providing connectivity to Block,Tehsil,district and provisional headquarters with the Civil Secretariat – the seat of the government.

The IT sector would open up new job opportunities for the youth and help in boosting the economy,Mehdi said.
