“We are on high alert along the border to foil any infiltration attempt from across. We have conducted area domination. Night patrolling has also been intensified,” a senior army officer said.

Besides, round the clock vigil, thermal imagers and battle field surveillance radars are being used along the three-tier barbed wire fencing along the border.

The troops have also mapped the infiltration routes in borderline Pirpanchal ranges, vallies, thick forests and riverine areas.

“We have taken enough measures to foil militants’s plan to sabotage the I-day functions and cause bloodshed and violence,” a police officer manning the border division said.

Atleast 19 militants were killed and over a dozen infiltration bids were foiled by the troops during the last fortnight.

Earlier,Defence Minister A K Antony had said on Monday that the “increase in infiltration” was a “matter of concern” for the government.
