Ban on policemen inside Guruvayur temple creates chaos

Ban on policemen entry will create a lot of problems especially during Sabrimala season.

The proposal to ban entry of policemen inside the famous Lord Krishna temple at Guruvayur will create chaos,a social organisation,here said.

Secreary of the ‘Janasevana Munnani’,a social organisation,K Soman Pillai,said in a statement on Tuesday that avoiding policemen on duty inside the temple would create a lot of difficulties for the devotees visiting the temple in general and especially during the Sabarimala season from November 15 to January 16 every year. He threatened to go on fast from November 15 if the temple authorities do not reconsider their decision.

It was estimated that over five million devotees from Tamil Nadu,Karnataka,Andhra Pradesh,Pondicherry,Maharashtra and Delhi visit the temple either on their way to Sabarimala or return during the pilgrimage season,he said.

Pillai said there are long queues of devotees every day in the temple and if policemen are not deployed inside the shrine,pick pockets and anti social elements would create chaos,he added.
