National Conference today said the Centre’s recognition to the Jammu and Kashmir government’s effort of conducting successful panchayat polls is a major jolt for those who had tried to misguide masses over the issue.

“The conduct of panchayat elections was not only a sincere effort of the coalition government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for the empowerment of people at the grassroot level but also historic as NC ensured establishment of Panchayat Raj after a gap of more than 30 years,” NC provincial spokesman Sajad Ahmed Kichloo said.

Kichloo congratulated State Chief Secretary Madhav Lal and DGP Kuldeep Khuda for being conferred with prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration.
