J-K govt to insure 450-MW Baglihar HEP Project

Baglihar HEP Project was constructed by J P Industries on river Chinab in Ramban district.

Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said it is in the process of insuring the 450-Mega Watt Baglihar hydro-electric power (HEP) project in Ramba district of the state.

“We are insuring 450-MW Baglihar project. The process has been started in this direction. The tenders have been floated,” Baglihar HEP project Chief Engineer A K Koul said.

Sealed tenders are invited from all public sector General Insurance companies for insurance of Civil,Hudro-Mechanical works of 450 MW Baglihar project stage-1 Chanderkote,a Short Term Tender (STN) notification issued by the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) said.

The insurance will cover the risk of fire and its allied perils,natural calamities like earth-quakes,floods and slides,along with terrorism,machinery breakdown insurance and electronics equipment insurance,it added.

The tenders should reach the office of Executive Engineer at Chadnerkote (Ramban) by July 4,this year and will be opened the same day.

The project after completion has been handed-over to JKSPDC,Koul said,adding that there is need for insurance of the project and hence this step has been taken.

450MW-Baglihar HEP Project was constructed by J P Industries on river Chinab at Chanderkote area of Ramban district and handed over to J&K Government last year.
