Militancy drastically down in J-K: DGP

Although militancy has been drastically brought down in the state,security forces need to be constantly vigilant,according to J-K DGP.

Although militancy has been drastically brought down in the state,security forces need to be constantly vigilant,Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda has said.

“Although the militancy graph has been brought to a lowest ebb,the force has to remain on constant vigil to face any emerging situation effectively,” Khoda said,addressing officials at a police ‘durbar’ held at Police Lines,Sopore,yesterday.

Khoda said J and K Police has fought all odds to bring peace in the state. “With the people’s cooperation,the forces have succeeded in eradicating the menace of militancy and restoring peace in the state. The brave jawans and officers of the force have faced many challenges and have come up to the expectation of the people,” he said.

Khoda also said forces should cause minimum inconvenience to the general public while dealing with security issues.

On peaceful conduct of panchayat elections in the state recently,Khoda said the state witnessed a good turn out in the polls as confidence in the people has been restored.

The DGP also stressed on strengthening community policing. He announced absorption of 11 SPOs in the police organisation as constables and followers.

Later,the police chief chaired a meeting of senior officers to review the security and law and order situation in the north Kashmir districts of Kupwara,Baramulla and Bandipora.Although militancy has been drastically brought down in the state,security forces need to be constantly vigilant,Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda has said.
