Seeking inclusion of all Hindu shrines in the Kashmir Valley under the purview of a proposed ordinance on protection of temples,a Kashmiri Pandits’ body today asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to make public the contents of the order before its enforcement.

“The state government should declare the contents of the ordinance regarding protection of temples in Kashmir before promulgating it. It should not end up being an eye-wash,” Vinood Pandita,Chairman of All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee, told reporters here.

Terming the assurance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding protection of temples as a good step,Pandita, however, pointed that even though the government could have passed the pending Bill in this regard in the recent Assembly session,it chose to “hoodwink” the Kashmiri Pandits.

He warned the government against any move to exclude temples managed by specific individuals or trusts from the ordinance.

Pandita also said the temples in the Valley should be fully controlled by Kashmiri Pandits as it will serve as a big confidence building measure for the community.
