Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, former RJD minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday sparked a controversy with a bold statement saying: “We are going to bring down the government very soon… and the next Chief Minister is sitting right in front of you.”
The remarks come on the same day the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s national executive committee authorised Lalu Yadav’s younger son Tejashwi Yadav to take calls related to the party’s strategy ahead of the Bihar assembly elections later this year.
In a video posted by Tej Pratap on X, he can been seen sitting on a sofa while a voice over claims he will be the next chief minister. Yadav shared the video with a caption saying, “Leadership is not a position or title, it is action and example. It’s not about perfectionism, it’s about effort. When you bring that effort every single day, that’s when transformation happens. That’s how change occurs. Dream more, learn more, do more, and become more.”
The executive meeting was attended by the party’s senior leaders, including MPs, MLAs and MLCs along with Lalu, his wife Rabri Devi and eldest daughter Misa Bharti.
Talking to reporters after the national executive meeting, Tejashwi Yadav said: “The trust that everyone has shown in me and the responsibilities that have been given to me are big. I will perform as per the expectations of the party leaders.
“It is only when the party organisation is strong, accountable, lives up to the expectations of the people, we will be able to win elections and serve the people of the state. We will win the coming assembly polls in Bihar. We have to make a new Bihar… a developed state… we have to take everyone along. We will soon intensify our membership drive.” He said the party has a vision and a blueprint for progress and overall development of the state.
