Police in Hazaribagh have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) deputy general manager Kumar Gaurav, who was shot dead on March 8 at Fateh Chowk in the Katkamdag police station area of Jharkhand.
Police said the four are members of the dreaded Aman Sahu gang, which masterminded the murder to create fear in the region. The perpetrators have been identified as local gang leader Mintu Kumar Paswan, Rahul Munda alias Chhotka alias Mirinda, Manoj Mali and Ajay Yadav.
Following the murder, an 11-member Special Investigation Team was formed, led by ASP Amit Kumar. The team launched an extensive search operation, and the four were traced based on technical intelligence and CCTV footage.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Superintendent of Police, Hazaribad, Arvind Kumar Singh, said the accused were arrested on March 23 and sent to Hazaribagh jail the following day. He said the motive was to “instil fear among companies” operating in Barkagaon and Keredari and to extort money from them.
He said Mintu Paswan was the alleged shooter, while Rahul Munda was driving the bike on which the men were travelling. Manoj Mali allegedly conducted the recce, and Ajay Yadav was the weapon supplier.
“We received inputs from various sources and used CCTV footage for surveillance. We will ensure such an incident does not repeat. Patrolling and security in the area have been increased. The arrested accused are part of the Aman Sahu gang,” said Singh.
Police have seized a pistol with a magazine, three 7.65 mm bullets, a red Pulsar bike without a number plate, five phones, and the clothing worn by the shooter on the day of the murder.

The plan was allegedly hatched on February 27, and an unsuccessful murder attempt was made on March 7.
On the morning of March 8, as Gaurav was travelling in his car, the accused followed him on the motorcycle. Paswan fired two rounds at Gaurav from close range, causing fatal injuries. Gaurav was rushed to Hazaribagh Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police said the men were being given monthly payments for the last few months to join the Aman Sahu gang.
