Uttar Pradesh now has the highest number of operational airports; here is a list

Among the airport terminal buildings inaugurated by PM Modi were those in Lucknow, Aligarh and Azamgarh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a slew of developmental projects in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, including 12 new airport terminal buildings, which took the number of operational airports in the state to 15, the highest in any state in the country.

The new terminal buildings of the state were inaugurated in Lucknow, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Moradabad and Shravasti airports.

Here is a list of the 10 operational airports in Uttar Pradesh:

  1. Agra airport
  2. Aligarh airport
  3. Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport
  4. Azamgarh Airport
  5. Bareilly Airport
  6. Chitrakoot Airport
  7. Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport
  8. Gorakhpur Airport
  9. Kanpur Airport
  10. Kushinagar International Airport
  11. Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport
  12. Moradabad Airport
  13. Prayagraj Airport
  14. Shravasti Airport
  15. Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport

Gujarat comes second with 10 airports, while Karnataka and Maharashtra stands third with nine airports each.
