I just saw Orkut’s grave. And it’s not a nice feeling.

Culture Machine’s latest video for Being Indian channel “Miss You Orkut – Misguided Bhramastra” is a teary tribute to the social networking site that captured people’s imagination less than a decade back. And if you are wondering about the first line of the write-up, watch this video and wait till the end.

A band of four guys are getting set to dig a grave with morose faces. They then break into a song that is sure to break your heart, if you were an Orkut lover once. The song reminds you of the ‘good times’ you spent with the good ol’ Orkut and the magic it unravelled in the form of scraps, testimonials and a simple, uncluttered avatar.

The lyrics go: “From the eye of a magic tiger, came a golden spark
You were the first social network to bring light to the dark”

You are almost in tears with the line – “It’s time for you to lie six feet under ground.”

Also featuring in the video are two girls with laptops, sitting in the dark with only candles on. By the end of the song, they shut down their laptops and sob uncontrollably, blowing away the candles.

Check out the video and pay tribute to Orkut that will see its last day on September 30.
