Swine flu: Govt identifies four pvt labs for sample testing

The Govt has identified four private laboratories in the capital to conduct swine flu tests and already sent them samples for testing.

Four laboratories namely Religare,Dr Lal’s pathology,Auroprobe and Dang’s have been selected and a small number of samples has been sent to them today,Director of National

Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD),Dr Shivlal said in New Delhi.

He said 50 samples,which had already tested positive,were sent to a number of private labs for checking their preparedness.

Apart from this,a six-member NICD team had also gone to see the facilities available in these labs.

After these checks,the four laboratories were identified and fresh samples sent to them. “As of now,the Government is paying these labs for testing the samples,” Shivlal said on the sidelines of a meeting of state health ministers on swine flu.

Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia said that in the meeting she was informed that the laboratories would begin testing from either from Friday night or by Saturday.

Walia also said that the state government has asked private medical practitioners to refer cases of suspected swine flu to designated government hospitals and not take any chances in view of the two deaths in the capital which had apparently taken place due to delayed treatment.
