Targeting the Maharashtra government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the 100-days programme announced for all departments, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule on Saturday said the only thing that has increased in the last 100 days is the crime rate in the state.

short article insert “Crime rate has increased in Maharashtra. The government is not talking about it. Violence broke out in Nagpur and even after six days, curfew is still in place in many parts. What is going on in Maharashtra? If we look at the 100-day report card of this government, only crime has increased in the state in the last 100 days. Apart from that, nothing else is written on its report card,” Sule said, addressing a press conference. She added that there has never been so much instability and so much crime in Maharashtra.

Mentioning incidents such as the killings of Santosh Deshmukh and Somnath Suryavanshi, and the Nagpur violence, Sule pointed out that former journalist Prashant Koratkar, wanted for allegedly insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has reportedly left India. “Information is that this man has left the country, travelling from Nagpur to Delhi and from there to Dubai. I had said earlier that if the state government cannot find him, they should seek help from the Centre. Now I am saying it again. What were the state police and Home department doing until he left the country,” she asked.

Terming Maharashtra’s financial situation weak, Sule said, “The state finance minister said yesterday that you can pretend to be everything but you can’t pretend to be money. I welcome this statement of the finance minister. I have been saying this for four months… the government should put aside issues like Aurangzeb and stop investments going out of the state and pay more attention to the problems of farmers.”

The NCP (SP) MP also sought to know whether the state government is planning to close down state education board schools by starting CBSE schools. “I want to ask questions about it. What percentage of Marathi will be in the CBSE curriculum? Will the history of Maharashtra be in it? How much information about Maharashtra will be in it? Are you prepared for the CBSE board? Do you have teachers? Are you going to permanently close the state board of education,” Sule asked.
