The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker suspended 11 more legislators of the Telugu Desam Party today.
The MLAs had wanted a discussion on the allegation that Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s family was involved in acquiring land illegally across the state. But they were disallowed by Speaker K R Suresh Reddy. The Opposition alleged that CM’s brother-in-law and Kadapa Mayor P Ravindranath Reddy was using official influence to make farmers in West Godawari sell their land for cheap.
The Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes, after TDP and TRS MLAs asked for adjournment motions to discuss the issue.
Chaos, however, continued after the House reassembled, with the Opposition storming the well of the House. Then, on the Speaker’s advice, the Legislative Affairs minister moved a resolution to suspend 11 MLAs.
