At least 11 naxalites and five CRPF jawans were killed in two separate encounters in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, about 550km from Raipur, on Monday, police said.
Five jawans and three ultras were killed in a gunbattle that broke out Mirtur forest in the afternoon, a senior police official said adding three personnel of the paramilitary force were injured in the incident.
In another encounter with the state’s elite Special Task Force in Easmeta jungle, eight naxals were killed.
The bodies of all the Maoists and security personnel have been recovered.
