Two Naxals, allegedly involved in the attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu near Tirupati in October, were shot dead by police in Chittoor early this morning.

Satyam alias Yerra Satyam and Sivanand, who were arrested in Bangalore, were being brought to Tirupati in a police vehicle when they were gunned down, police said.

Policemen escorting the two allowed them to answer the nature’s call near Heritage Dairy at Peleru. While getting down from the vehicle, the Naxals snatched a weapon from one of the policemen and opened fire, they said.

The escort party fired at the duo, they said, adding Satyam died on the spot while Sivanand succumbed to injuries on way to Peleru Hospital. The Naxalites belonged to the 11-member group, which allegedly planned the attack on Naidu, police said.
