April 30: A major reshuffle has been put into effect in the judiciary in Pune district with 22 judges including two civil judges (senior division) having been transferred out of Pune district following the directives from the Bombay High Court.

The High Court has also directed setting up of three new civil courts at the district and sessions court premises at Shivajinagar.

A highly-placed judicial officer told The Indian Express that the 22 judges who have been transferred include 20 judicial magistrate first class/civil judge (junior division) and two civil judges (senior division).

When contacted, K R Jagtap, registrar of the Districts and Sessions Court confirmed the transfers of the judges. Joint civil judges (senior division) P B Thakre and B B Yerlekar, who have completed their three-year tenure in Pune have been transferred to Bhandara district and Nashik district respectively.

While the 20 JMFCs/civil judge (junior division) who have been transferred out of Pune include P T Rahule (JMFC Railway court, Daund), JMFC Court No 8 B B Pantavane, R A Pawar and U B Shukla (both Saswad), J S Mali (Ghodnadi), A K Patil (Junnar), Sadhana Shinde (civil judge junior division at Pune), G B Patil (Khed), Vilas Patil (JMFC Court No 4, Pune), P D Kuradkhedkar, P K Chitnis, D G Murumkar, Mangesh Patil, R A Patil, A S Mahatme, M B Gosavi, M V Hodade, R N Sardesai, V H Abhang and C R Pande.

Terming the transfers as routine, the officer said that these judges have been asked to take charge at their new postings by May 8.

He disclosed that the Bombay High Court has issued directive to set up three new civil courts at the premises of district and sessions court at Shivajinagar. “Soon two courts of senior division civil judge and one court of junior division civil judge will be set up,” he said.
