3 held for gangrape and murder of student

Ranchi, Machr 20: Police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the gangrape and subsequent murder of a 17-year-old girl student here, police today said.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the three from Sukhdevnagar area in the city yesterday, they said.

A fourth suspect, however, managed to escape. The arrested have confessed of being involved in the incident, which occurred on March 11, they said.

The arrest came seven days after the incident in which four culprits barged into the house of the victim, a first year student of Ranchi Women’s College, at Gandhinagar and gangraped and killed her. They also looted some money before fleeing the spot. Futher invesitigation was on.
