DERA BASSI, Oct 30: The services of three employees of the Lalru branch of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) have been placed under suspension for their alleged involvement in financial irregularities amounting to more than Rs 3 lakh.

The suspension of Swaran Singh, an accountant, Salochana Devi, senior clerk and Harinder Singh, cashier, will remain in force till the inquiry against them is completed, a PSEB official said.

He told Newsline that the suspensions had been ordered on the basis of the findings of a preliminary inquiry. According to sources, financial irregularities of Rs 3 lakh were brought to the notice of the department by a Lalru industrialist. He alleged that he had made a payment of Rs 3 lakh in cash against a pending bill of over Rs 20 lakh, but the entry was not made in the record by the officials concerned, leading to disconnection of power supply to the factory.
