July 1: The crime branch has arrested four contract killers allegedly from the Chhota Rajan gang on Monday evening. On receiving information that some criminals were likely to assemble near the entrance of Dindoshi BEST depot at Malad east at 7 00 pm, the unit-VI of crime branch laid a trap and arrested four of them, seized two imported pistols and two motorbikes.The quartet was identified as Wilson George, Mahendra alias Maya Rajaram, Umesh Sadhu Pujari and Purshottam alias Ajay Narayan Shetty. A search revealed that they were armed with a .45 revolver with six rounds and a .38 revolver (Scott and Wembley make) with another six rounds.According to the Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Ranjit Singh Sharma, ``They have admitted to their involvement in two recent cases - an attempt on the life of builder Ajay Mishra in Malad on June 11 and another assault on Baljeet Parmar on the very next day.'' Both the victims had narrowly escaped the attempts on their lives.According to Mumbai police commissioner Subhash Malhotra, ``It is still to be confirmed that they were working at the instance of Chhota Rajan.'' However he did not rule out their involvement in other similar offences.
