CHANDIGARH, NOV 21: In a special drive launched on Saturday, more than 500 traffice violators have been challaned by the traffic police for violating traffic rules in and around Chandigarh.
The deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S.S. Randhawa told Newsline that 29 naka points at various entry points in the city were set up to check traffic violations and during the operation nearly 500 violators were booked.
Those driving vehicles without wearing helmets, crossing red lights and overspeeding were among those who have been challaned. The people found smoking while driving and using black film were also not spared, he added.
