Six employees of American fast-food chain KFC were burned to death in Karachi during a riot that followed a suicide attack on a mosque in Karachi, rescue workers said on Tuesday.
Angry Shi’ites set fire to the restaurant after the mosque attack in which five people died on Monday night, but the bodies of those burned were only found on Tuesday morning, said Rizwan Edhi of the Edhi Foundation, a private emergency service.
Intelligence agents said they suspect Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a banned Sunni Muslim militant group with ties to the Al Qaeda network, as the perpetrators of the mosque attack. ‘‘The pattern of this attack has many similarities with attacks they have carried out in the recent past,’’ district police chief Asif Ajaz Sheikh said. Lashkar-e-Jhangvi has been blamed for two attacks on Musharraf. —Reuters
