
NIZAMABAD, February 5: Close on the heels of yesterday’s killings, a Naxalite belonging to the banned People’s War Group was killed in an encounter with police between Allapalli and Chirpalli villages in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh today.
Police said the deceased was identified as Padgula Sampath.
In a fierce hour-long encounter with the police yesterday, seven PWG Naxalites including Banswada Dalam commander Janardhan, a top Naxalite, and district committee member Salim alias Sirnapalli Ramulu alias Rajireddy, were killed in the dense forests near Chetnal village in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh. Both Janardhan and Saleem carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their heads.
District Superintendent of Police C V Anand, disclosing the details to a team of mediapersons that visited the encounter site, said that on information, nearly 50 special police party personnel reached the hillock where the members of Banswada and Yellareddy dalams were holding a meeting. Banswada was rated as the mostdominant among the four PWG Dalams operating in the forests.
