
A galaxy of renowned poets of international fame will descend at a cultural festival, Jashne-Sahir – 2008, which is being organised by Adeeb International (Sahir Cultural Academy) in Panday auditorium, Nehru Sidhant Kendra, on December 13.
Dr Kewal Dheer, chairman, Sahir Cultural Academy, said in a press conference that the festival included a programme of Mehfil-e-Mousiqi (musical event based on Sahir Ludhianvi’s poetry and Suflana Kalam) which will be inaugurated by Chander Shekhar, ADGP, Punjab. Artists like Neelam, Jasmeet and Vikas will take part in the festival.
Dr Dheer said that the major event of the festival will be 36th annual international Mushaira, organised every year in the memory of great Urdu poet, Sahir Ludhianvi, which will be inaugurated by Manoranjan Kalia, Industries, Commerce and Local Bodies Minister, Punjab.
A galaxy of renowned poets from all over India, Pakistan, USA and UK will participate which include Wasim Bareily, Rahat Indori Qamar Raees, Sohan Rahi, Nawaz Deobandi, Azhar Javed, Shista Nuzhat, Neelima Durrani, Asad Raza, Ashok Sawhney, K L Zakir, Khushbir Shad, Popular Meeruti, Rupa Saba, Ana Dehtvi, Nashir Naqvi, Paiyyaz Paroouqi, Sardar Panchhi, Rashid Hamidi and Azim Shakri.
Sahir and Adeeb awards will be presented to Prof Qamar Raees (vice-chairman, Urdu Akademi Delhi), Asad Raza (Bureau Chief, Rashtriya Sahara, and Ashok Sawhney, industrial icon and eminent poet).
