After the hype and excitement of the week, a calm and confident Arjun Atwal holed his last putt to card a seven-under, 281 and seal his second Hero Honda Masters victory. And that also meant that he become the first million-dollar earner on the Asian PGA Tour.Atwal, started the day at six-under-par, three strokes behind overnight leader, Digvijay Singh. He slowly gathered momentum, with his first birdie on the third, followed by an eagle on the par-five eighth hole where he holed a monstrous putt for a three, to get to nine-under for the day. He momentarily grabbed the lead, but dropped four strokes in the next five holes, including the difficult par-four ninth. However, Atwal won in style, as he came back with birdies on the par-five 14th hole and a chip-in on the par-three 17th hole and went on to hole a crucial ten-footer for par on the last.‘‘This is probably the first time my ball striking was so bad en route to a title victory,’’ added, Arjun, who has a reputation for hitting the ball consistently and straight. ‘‘However, my putting helped me save some strokes, specially on the last as I knew I needed to hole that putt, though I had no doubts in my mind.’’About his million dollar achievement he said, ‘‘It is an added bonus but winning the title is most important,’’ said Arjun. ‘‘Winning this week and sealing the Asian PGA Tour Order of Merit was the top most priority,’’he added.Jyoti Randhawa, Gary Rusnak and Pablo del Olmo finished tied second at six-under-par, 282. Jyoti looked close to winning yet again as he made a great start with birdies on the first, seventh and eight holes to make the turn at three-under-par for the day. However, he was four-over for the back nine, as he bogeyed the 10th and 15th holes, and doubled the par-four 13th. Jyoti also missed a ten-footer on the last to force a playoff. About his show Jyoti said: ‘‘That seemed to be the story of this tournament. My putt on the last was not firm enough. However, we played in tough conditions, which Arjun tackled best and deserved to win.’’ A second place finish enables Pablo, who will head to the USPGA Tour qualifying school after this event and Gary Rusnak to keep their cards.
