While Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi may have been the toast of the wine-sipping intellectuals of Delhi, she herself chose to raise a toast to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Soon after her meeting with Manmohan, a curious analyst sought to second guess Pelosi’s impressions about the PM by telling her that she may have found the PM to be a sober non-political sort of head of government. Pelosi politely disagreed: “I think he is quite strong and determined. Politics is not for the faint hearted.”
