Petroleum Minister Ram Naik and his secretary B. K. Chaturvedi were involved in a spat in jest on Tuesday.
While speaking at the roadshow on the fourth round of NELP, Chaturvedi said that this was his second roadshow and it is no mean achievement given the fact that secretaries change ministries quite regularly (probably the fact that his name was being considered for finance secretary post also weighed in Chaturvedi’s mind).
The petroleum secretary hinted that attending two roadshows in a short span of time also show that a lot of work is going on.
Naik, at the beginning of his speech, mentioned that the secretary has instigated him and decided to pick up the challenge not only on his behalf but also on the behalf of the minister of state (MoS).
“While Chaturvedi is attending his second roadshow, the MoS Santosh Gangwar his attending his fourth and I am attending my third”, Naik said adding that while he is the longest surviving Cabinet minister in this government, Gangwar is the longest surviving MoS. Naik was prompt to add that going by this statistics, bureaucrats are not the only people who work in the ministries, politicians can also be counted upon to work effectively.
Seems all is good in jest, but is there an indication that the minister and his secretary are falling apart, more so since it is expected that Chaturvedi may go over to finance?
However, Naik wished him good luck and said it is to be seen whether Chaturvedi gets a promotion (meaning finance sec post of course)!
