MUMBAI, May 24: ABB, the international electrical engineering company, has acquired a 51 % equity stake in Lenzohm Electrical Engineering Company Pvt Ltd with the aim of enhancing its `service’ profile in India. The new company will be called ABB Lenzohm Service Ltd.

Lenzohm, located in Mumbai, is a leading player in the field of repairs and maintenance of large motors, generators, alternators and transformers for cement plants, refineries, fertiliser plants, steel plants etc for the last 40 years.

Its highly skilled workforce carries out both in-house as well as on-site repair jobs. It has a well-equipped workshop and diagnostic systems. The annual turnover is around Rs 30 million.

This joint venture is a concerted effort on ABB’s part to offer increased support and come closer to its customers. This business will fall into ABB.

Operations of ABB in India cover three primary business segments power generation, power transmission and distribution and industrial and building systems. ABB’s manufacturing and sales network span the entire country with the industrial and building systems segment having production facilities at Bangalore, Calcutta, Vadodara, Faridabad, Nashik and Chennai.
