NEW DELHI, November 18: Sterling performances by Atul Gupta (6) and Manoj Gupta (5) helped 61 Cavalry B outplay ASC with a 12-3 1/2 verdict in a first-round match of ABN Amro Bank Bhopal-Pataudi Cup (8 goals) polo tournament. In another one-sided encounter, Jaisal Singh and Rody Williams scored five goals each to guide Jodhpur-Kashmir to a 10-3 win over Riviera at Jaipur polo ground.

ABN Amro Bank Equisport beat 61 Cavalry `C’ 8-5 1/2. ABN Amro conceded 2 1/2 goals on handicap and put pressure on their opponents by scoring two goals in the first chukker against one goal by 61 Cav C. ABN scored another two goals in the second, third and fourth chukkers to take a big lead.

Manupal Godara (4), Uday Kalaan (3) and Ajit Singh scored for the winners while Y K Singh (2), Shailendra Singh scored for the losers. 61 Cavalry C started the match with 2 1/2 goal on handicap.

61 Cavalry `A’ also proved too strong for Marco Shipping, winning 7-2. Pinka Virk, Ajay Ahlawat and A S Randhawa scored two goals each for the winners while Tarun Sirohi got one. Buchi Prakash and Philip Elliot scored once each for Marco Shipping.

In other first-round matches, Jindal Steel and Power beat HTH Insurance 8-4 1/2 and Aravali Polo defeated LG-Equisport 5-4.

The quarterfinal line-up is: 61 Cavalry A vs Jodhpur-Kashmir, Aravali Polo vs Teachers, 61 Cavalry B vs Jindal Steel and Power, ABN Amro Bank Equisport vs Sehgal Stud Kashmir.
