CHANDIGARH, Sept 28: Yatras from four corners of the country will be organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to commemorate the golden jubilee celebrations of their organisation.

The four Yatras will begin from the Srinagar, Nalanda (Bihar), Manipur and Thiruvananthapuram and will converge in Mumbai on December 20.

Addressing a press conference here today, the All India General Secretary of the ABVP, also released the list of their National Celebration Committee which would overlook the golden jubilee celebrations. President of Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Ranganathananda, Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Arjun Singh, the Sarasanghchalak of the RSS, Rajendra Singh and the renowned Islamic Scholar, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan are the four patrons of the committee. Vice Chancellor of Jodhpur University, Shyampal, is one of the vice-presidents of the committee, while additional advocate general, Maharashtra is the general secretary. Mahesh Sharma, chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Corporation is one of the four secretaries of the committee.

Answering questions from media persons he later stated that the ABVP was in favour of scrapping of the provision which allowed minorities to run educational institutions.
