Plastic is in this season when it comes to accessories. And if you have always looked down upon plastic trinkets and bold flashy designs, now is a time to go for an overhaul. This season, it’s all about being colourful, shiny and young. From Emilio Pucci to Anna Sui, from YSL to Karl Lagerfeld the focus this summer is on chunky accessories. Big crystal neckpieces and colourful plastic pendants, wide belts and shoes with gems have come back in a big way in every style sheet. Back home, Rina Shah of Rinaldi has been working on the shine and bling regime for her latest collection of accessories. “There are semi-precious studs on the shoes. The finish is pearly and glossy, and very girlie chic,” she says. Similarly, Kunti Shah, Medha Toprani and her niece Kalli Mehra of Mumbai-based brand Kokommo has been working with beads, wood and ceramic for their present collection. “It’s fun, youthful and light-hearted and as colourful as can be,” says Shah. Splash some colour on to your wardrobes.
