VADODARA, July 30: A freak accident has claimed the life of veteran Gujarati film actor Narayan Rajgor. He had sustained a grievous injury on his forehead when a dummy bullet caused a two-inch deep wound on his forehead during a gun-firing sequence at a film shooting in Halol on Friday evening.

He died of his injuries here yesterday. The villain in the film, Firoz Irani, has been named as the main accused in the case.

Rajgor was shooting for a film called Desh Joya Pardesh Joya at a studio when he was injured. Rajgor was supposed to jump to his left as soon as the shot was fired, but he veered to his right instead, landing in the path of the bullet. The dummy bullet, whose constituents include hard material like iron, also injured the left side of his brain.

Though the case was initially registered under Section 338 of the IPC (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), the Panchmahals police incorporated Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) in the FIR yesterday.

Meanwhile Panchmahals District Superintendent of Police Manok Agrawal said Irani, the producers and all those present on the sets would be interrogated in this regard.
