Additional EVMs brought from Maharashtra for MP assembly polls

The Election Commission would make arrangements to bring 15,000 additional Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from Maharashtra for the November 27 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.

“The arrangement of 15,000 additional EVMs is being carried out for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections to be held on November 27 and these machines will be installed in 65 constituencies of 25 districts where more than 16 candidates are in the fray”, an Election Commission release said in Bhopal on Thursday.

The Election Commision has sanctioned the proposal sent by the State Election Commission office in this regard and according to its order, EVMs are being arranged from Maharashtra, it said.

These EVMs would be put up in seven assembly constituencies of Rewa district, five assembly constituencies each in Bhind, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh and Satna districts, four constituencies in Chhatarpur district and three assembly constituencies each in Morena, Gwalior, Datia, Katni and Seoni districts.

Besides, they would be placed in two assembly constituencies each in Guna, Panna, Sidhi, Anuppur and Balaghat districts and one constituency each in Singrauli, Shahdol, Mandla, Betul, Raisen, Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh and Jabalpur districts.
