RAJKOT, AUG 12: Niloy Basak and Munmun Basak, both of Bengal, clinched the sub-junior boys and girls titles as a spate of upsets rocked the junior boys and girls events in the National Ranking Table Tennis Championship (West) 2000 at the Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s Indoor Stadium, here on Saturday.

The sub-junior girls event also had an unseeded finalist in Sukanya Bose of Bengal, but she too was halted in the final as second seed Munmun Basak beat her 21-11, 21-8, 21-19. Munmun Basak went on to upset eighth seed M Aparna 21-13, 21-15 in the junior girls second round.

Pathik Mehta and Hardik Bhatt of Gujarat entered the pre-quarterfinals in junior boys, the former by defeating Devesh Karia in the third round 21-15, 21-15, while Hardik, who defeated Soumya Nandi 21-17, 21-13 in the second round, got a third round walk-over.
