
CHENNAI, July 23: B Sivanthi Adityan is back at the helm as president of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) after a gap of 12 years. The Chennai-based newspaper magnate accepted the proposal in deference to the wishes of the delegates who had assembled for the VFI’s annual general body meeting on Wednesday in good number.
The new office-bearers were elected unanimously.
Briefing mediamen on Tuesday at the end of the meeting, Adityan said K Murugan would be the new executive vice-president, a post created for him, with a view to make the most of his experience.
He confirmed that the new Volleyball Development Centre will be inaugurated by FIVB president Reuben A’ Costa on Sept. 19.
Among the more important decisions taken were to form a committee to help in developing the game in the north eastern States. The formation of a media committee was another important decision taken at the meeting. It will be headed by S Thyagarajan.
