Admn to put prisoners in nearby jails

CHANDIGARH, July 19: With the Burail Jail having no capacity to lodge more prisoners, the UT Administration has decided to put prisoners in the jails of neighbouring states.

In view of this, Deputy Commissioner R.K. Rao said the nurses of Haryana proposing to court arrest in Chandigarh on July 20 would be lodged in jails around Chandigarh where arrangements are being made.

It may be recalled that as part of their agitation earlier this week, over 200 nurses from Haryana had courted arrest in Chandigarh seeking early implementation of their demands.
