Advani signals reshuffle, Baijal to be Home Secy

After a prolonged hunt, Anil Baijal has been selected as the next Home Secretary in place of N. Gopalaswami who will move to Election Commission as a member.

Director, Enforcement Directorate, R.N. Das has been selected to replace Baijal as Vice-Chairman, Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Baijal was shifted to DDA in August last year from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting where he was Additional Secretary. Other transfers likely to be announced tomorrow are:

Fertiliser Secretary Nripendra Mishra as Telecom Secretary in place of Vinod Vaish who superannuates on January 31.

S.N.P.N. Sinha, who is Secretary in Central Vigilance Commission, will move to Fertiliser Department to replace Mishra.

Pratyush Sinha, who is currently Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, will replace Vinay Kohli who retires at the end of this month.

A.N. Tiwari, one time secretary of former VP late Krishna Kant, will move to Department of Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation in place of L.M. Mehta who also superannuates at the end of this month.

Reva Nayyar, currently Advisor (North East) in the Planning Commission, is being transferred to Department of Development of North Eastern Region as Secretary in place of Adarsh Mishra. Mishra is going on a year’s leave to join her husband B.B. Mishra who is India’s Executive Director to IMF .

Sources said, the above transfers were cleared by Deputy PM L.K. Advani today and are awaiting the approval of the Prime Minister.
