The unprecedented strike by Forest Department employees has forced the Uttaranchal government to deploy the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) to protect wildlife and forests in the state from poachers.
Even as the strike entered its ninth day today, Forest Minister Navparbhat said the armed police has been deployed around national parks and other vital places to check poaching and illicit cutting of trees. Meanwhile, there seems to be no end in sight to the deadlock between the government and the striking employees with the Uttaranchal Forest Corporation staff also joining the strike today.
