
Aircel, the leading mobile service provider in Tamil Nadu, today launched its services in Amaravathi and aims to extend the coverage to 1,200 towns this year. The Aircel network has now crossed 800 towns and 11,000 villages across the state. “The launch of services in Amaravathi was in line with the company’s objective of extending reach to a wider cross section of the public,” Aircel CEO-South K V P Baskar said in a release. Part of Malaysia-based Maxis Communications Berhad, Aircel has a GSM subscriber base of 4.3 million in Tamil Nadu and North East, he said.
