As one of Asia’s top airshows closed today, India’s production agency in the military aircraft and engine side, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, had much to show for.

HAL announced bagging orders from global majors Snecma, Rolls-Royce and Irkut. It also floated a joint venture with Snecma for producing small aero engines for civil aircraft, besides joining hands with Snecma’s subsidiary Turbomeca to jointly develop ‘‘Shakti’’ engine for advance light helicopters.

The aerospace major also struck a deal with the Israeli aircraft industry to jointly market HAL globally with IAI avionics. HAL also decided to go ahead with its Russian partners for co-designing and co-developing a multi-role transport aircraft for cargo applications at an estimated cost of US $250 on an equal sharing basis. At the exhibition, New Delhi showcased its developments in the military aviation sector by highlighting its engineering talent and strong industry base.
