
The DRDO said on Tuesday that the multiple target-long range surface-to-air missile, Akash, would be ready for induction within three years and the IAF will initially get two squadrons (96 missiles). The supersonic missile, which can target fighter aircraft and subsonic cruise missiles at a range of 25 km, will cost Rs 2 crore a piece and India will be able to produce 100 missiles a year at the Hyderabad based Bharat Dynamic Limited.
