CHANDIGARH, Oct 8: Alumni chapters of Punjab University will be opened in different countries, especially in Canada and United States of America which has a large concentration of former PU students.

This was decided at a meeting of the Punjab University Alumni Association held on the campus. The alumni chapters will be established at Winnipeg, Boston, New York, London and Vancouver. This follows the recent visit of the Vice- Chancellor to Canada where he held meetings with alumni of Punjab University. The alumni member fees from such students will be charged in foreign exchange and a committee has been constituted to finalise the rates to be charged.

Another committee has also been constituted to consider funding for the construction of an alumni house at the university. The foundation stone of the alumni house was earlier laid by the former prime minister, I.K.Gujral, who also happens to be a former student of Punjab University when it was situated in Lahore.
