Ending the month-long suspense over the fate of sacked BSP minister Amar Mani Tripathi, UP CM Mayawati today categorically stated that she would not induct him in the Cabinet till he was proved innocent by the CBI in the Madhumita murder case. Earlier, she had been dropping hints about Tripathi’s re-induction. On June 17, she said that she would induct him provided Madhumita’s mother gave him a clean chit.‘‘Madhumita’s mother has been changing her statement almost everyday. I handed over the inquiry to the CB-CID on her written request but later she demanded a CBI inquiry and I did that. But the very next day, she came out with another written statement that she wanted a CB-CID probe. I have taken her contradictory versions seriously and have decided not to induct Amar Mani as a minister till he comes out clean in the CBI probe,’’ said Mayawati while addressing a press meet, her third since she returned from a five-nation tour on June 14. She also accepted that the CB-CID report which was received by the government two days after expiry of the one month deadline contained nothing concrete. ‘‘From now on all questions regarding the case should be addressed to the CBI and not my government.’’
