Objecting to statements by PM A.B. Vajpayee and NDA convenor George Fernandes that there are ‘‘ideological similarities’’ between the Samajwadi Party and BJP, SP general secretary Amar Singh on Saturday said it indicated the NDA are ‘‘nervous and their defeat is certain’’ and had hit upon a ‘‘well-thought of strategy’’ to confuse the minority communities. ‘‘Though Mulayam and George have been associated with Ram Manohar Lohia, unlike George, we have never compromised with principles for power,’’ he said.
