Amarmani in judicial custody

Samajwadi Party legislator Amarmani Tripathi, the main accused in the Mandhumita murder case, was remanded in judicial custody for a day on Monday.

Samajwadi Party legislator Amarmani Tripathi, the main accused in the Mandhumita murder case, was remanded in judicial custody for a day on Monday.

Amarmani, who was brought from Gorakhpur jail today, was produced before Dehra Dun Additional Sessions Judge Meena Tiwari. Recently, the case was transferred from UP to Uttarakhand.

His wife Madhumani was produced before Dehradun District Judge VB Rai on March 2. The three other accused in the case were also brought to Dehradun jail.

Surat Singh Negi, defence counsel for the Tripathis, pleaded that since Madhumani was ill she should be admitted to hospital. Justice Rai has ordered a medical panel should be formed to assess her health condition.
