
CHANDIGARH, Nov 20: With four birdies and an eagle, twenty six-year-old Amritinder Singh shot another five-under par round 67 to aggregate eight-under par 208 and established a clear seven-stroke lead over Shiv Shankar Prasad Chowrasia and Jeev Milkha Singh after 54 holes on the penultimate day of the Rs 8 lakh Hero Golf Chandigarh Open at the Chandigarh Golf Course here today. On the first day also, Amritinder had carded an identical score of 67.
Chowrasia of Calcutta, who was sharing the lead with Amritinder Singh yesterday, played two-over par 74 today to aggregate 215. He was jointly occupying the second position with Jeev Milkha Singh who returned one-over par 73. Chowrasia hit four bogies and one double bogey on the 15th. He also scored four bridies.
Driving erratically off the tee, Amritinder Singh made bogey on the first and 17th holes. However, the Chandigarh golfer overcame this problem with immaculately putting to score birdies on the third, seventh, ninth, 10th and 12th holes. He capped it with an eagle on the 5-par 480-yard 13th hole.
Current leader in the Wills Sports Golf Tour Order of Merit Shiv Prakash and defending Indian Open champion Feroz Ali moved up to the joint fourth place with one-over 217. Shiv Prakash played a steady par round 72 after committing two bogies in the first three holes.
Local lad Manav Das (229) today played one-over 73 to gain a two-stroke lead over Jaiveer Singh (78+74+79) in the amateur section.
