India and Pakistan on Wednesday agreed to start the Amritsar-Lahore bus service in the first half of November while deciding to hold another round of technical level talks before launching a bus service between Amritsar and Nankana Sahib — birthplace of Guru Nanak. The Amritsar-Lahore service will be once a week from either side and ticket from India would be Rs 750 and from the Pakistan Rs 900.

The two sides also decided to explore the possibility of travel by pilgrims from either country to shrines including Ajmer Sharif.

‘‘The two sides finalised an agreement on the Lahore-Amritsar bus. They also discussed the draft agreement and modalities for the Nankana Sahib-Amritsar bus service,’’ the statement said.

Meanwhile, the technical talks for improving air links also concluded in Islamabad today, with both sides agreeing to continue discussions on multiple designation of airlines as well as adding more points of call for respective carriers.
