
LINARES, January 19: World No 2 Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand of India and the highest rated player in the World GM Garry Kasparov of Russia will clash for supremacy in the forthcoming City of Linares Super Grandmaster’ Chess Tournament from February 22 at Hotel Anibal here.
While giving details about the tournament president of the organising committee, Luis Rentero told UNI that top six players in the world have been invited for this strongest ever clash of titans to be played in ten rounds.
Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Svidler (Russia), Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine) and Vaselin Topalov (Bulgaria) are the other competitors.
The Category 21 tournament offers prize money worth four million pesetas (Rs 10 lakh).
