Even as the BJP Mahila Morcha intensified demands for a CBI probe into a ward councillor’s death in Chaksu, women organisations are gunning for another Congress MLA, alleging he beat his wife.
On Tuesday morning, Sunita reportedly went to her beauty parlour and was going about her business normally. ‘‘These women came and told my wife that she couldn’t go back on her word and give up on the case. They whisked her away to their shelter and are not letting anyone, including her brother, to meet her,’’ says the MLA, adding the entire thing is a ‘‘political conspiracy’’.
In response, former RUWA president Renuka Pameja says: ‘‘Well, why don’t you just say we have locked her up? As far as we are concerned, Sunita came to us for help and we intend giving her that. She has expressed her desire not to meet or talk to anyone, especially the press, and we are going to make sure she doesn’t.’’
And to ensure no one has access to Sunita, Shakti Sthal has locked the gates. They also couldn’t explain how she changed her mind about speaking to the press considering Sunita spoke to a few journalists at her parlour. No FIR has been lodged yet. Nagar says: ‘‘These women activists are blowing a family dispute out of proportion.’’ BJP Mahila Morcha president Suman Sharma has submitted a petition to the Governor, demanding action in both Nagar and Tanwar’s cases.
