PANAJI, NOV 7: Goa one of the most politically unstable states, today witnessed another split in the breakaway group of the Goan Peoples Congress(GPP), wherein two members of the GPP joined the ruling BJP, whose leader Manohar Parrikar is facing the confidence vote in the Assembly on 9th November. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today presented in his press conference Venketesh Dassai, the Panchayat Minister. The breakaway GPP is now left with two members who are incidently Catholics and who are supporting the Govt. from outside. Parrikar said, they both for reasons best known to all will prefer to stay as a separate group for some time.

With this defection, the BJP now has the support of 20 members in the house of 40. “20 is a majority in the house and this should silence the gossip mongers in the state” he said.
